The life of a DJ is one of envy. That’s what has started the popular trend #TheDJ Life… They get to travel, play music and basically have fun non-stop…and get paid while doing all that! Ever wondered if there is more than what meets the eye? ;) Here are the biggest myths of the DJ life and the truth behind them. THE UPSIDE

1. You work with one of the most exciting industries.

Not only do you work in an environment that is forever exciting, there is always something new & fun happening which is any day more exciting than a normal desk job.

2. You get paid to entertain others.

Life is fun & there is an immense satisfaction which stems from providing quality entertainment.

3. You get to make friends.

As a DJ you need to meet people, socialize and invite them to parties.

Consequently, you are going to meet a lot of people and end up making a lot of new friends.

4. Be your own boss.

Rather than a 9 to 5 job, you set your own hours, work with your own flexibility.

5. The free perks.

Every industry has its share of free perks and life's like one big party. In nightlife that can range from free alcohol at your parties, to invitations for exclusive events.

The DOWNSIDE

1. Partying can sometimes feel like a job.

It will always be fun to see friends groove to your music, but going out 4+ nights a week starts to get to you no matter how much you like to play music or party. There are going to be days when you don’t want to do it, when you are having a bad day- but you still have to put on a happy face, smile and look like you’re having fun.

2. Your success is based on performance

Working as a freelancer would mean that there is no standard ‘career path’ or fixed monthly salary. Becoming a successful DJ depends heavily on how hard you work.

3. Living a Vampire’s schedule.

As a DJ, you might be the last one to leave a club and often you may go to sleep as the sun is coming up.

4. Relationships can be hard

You may have to deal with jealousy, working on special occasions like birthdays, valentine's day, new year's etc. which can be hard for any relationship.

5. Getting Cornered by Stereotypes

The society is still to accept nightlife as a serious career and your parents might just feel you're messing your life by getting involved in 'parties', 'alcohol' & 'girls'. You might just have to grow some thick sick & a hard heart to ignore the critisim.
